I remember taking a lot of behind the scenes shots during the production of Mortal Kombat, but can’t seem to find that shoebox. I did, however, find this production photo of the opening scene with Cary Tagawa. We shot this in a temple in Ayutthaya, the Old Capital of Thailand. I remember one particular rock that was in the way of my throwing this kick where the director (Paul W.S. Anderson) wanted, but the groundskeeper asked us not to move any stones because they represented past monks from the temple. I compromised with him by temporarily moving the stone, and then gently placed it back in the exact spot (kinda) after we were done with the scene. This shoot remains one of my favorite location shoots to date.
