The chicken or the egg causality dilemma is commonly stated as “which came first, the chicken or the egg?” To ancient philosophers, the question about the first chicken or egg also evoked the questions of how life and the universe in general began. To me, the answer is pretty obvious.
Taking my reverse stance and assuming that the egg came first, who would feed and care for the baby chicks? Certainly not the snake in the apple tree, passing hawks, or hungry rats. If the egg came first, the species that we know as “chickens” would not exist because the babies wouldn’t make it past their first day out of the egg.
With that in mind, I would like to wish all our mother’s out there a Happy Mother’s Day weekend. Thank you for carrying and caring for us and helping solve the age old dilemma of which came first, the chicken or the egg….because clearly, there would be no life without our mothers.
